Automation Engineer

Kainjoo SA · Remote · Geneva

Job description

You’re the kind of person who sees a manual process and immediately starts thinking about how to eliminate it. At Kainjoo, you’ll build the automation layer that connects our clients’ tools, APIs, and data — and increasingly, you’ll weave AI into those workflows to do things that weren’t possible before.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll design and build production automation workflows across a wide range of client use cases — from document processing and CRM syncing to AI-powered scoring and classification. You’ll work with a lot of different APIs, a lot of edge cases, and a lot of creative problem-solving.

  • Design and build automation workflows using tools like n8n, Make, or similar platforms
  • Integrate third-party APIs across CRM, accounting, communication, marketing, and productivity tools
  • Build AI-powered workflows using LLM APIs for classification, summarisation, extraction, and scoring
  • Implement both event-driven and scheduled (cron-based) automation patterns
  • Connect automation outputs to databases, spreadsheets, and client systems
  • Set up error handling, alerting, and observability for production workflows
  • Test, debug, and monitor live automations in production
  • Document workflows clearly for handover and client training
  • Collaborate with developers to define API endpoints that workflows can consume

Who we’re looking for

Personality

  • You enjoy figuring out how to connect things that weren’t designed to connect
  • You’re persistent — you dig into API docs, you test edge cases, you don’t give up easily
  • You document your work well so others can maintain it
  • You’re pragmatic: you use the right tool for the job, not the most impressive one
  • You stay curious about what’s new in the AI and automation space

Experience* 2+ years of experience building production automations with tools like n8n, Make, or Zapier

  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and OAuth flows
  • Comfortable writing JavaScript or Python for custom logic and data transformation
  • Experience with both event-driven and scheduled automation patterns
  • Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) into production workflows
  • Ability to set up monitoring and error alerting for production workflows

Nice to Have* n8n experience specifically (self-hosted a plus)

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace APIs
  • Background in data engineering or ETL processes
  • Experience with vector databases or RAG architectures
  • Knowledge of Notion or similar workspace APIs

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus
