Analyst, AI and Economic Intelligence
Kaptivate LLC · Baltimore, US
Job description
Position Overview
Kaptivate is seeking an Analyst, AI and Economic Intelligence to support the development and delivery of data-driven research, economic analysis, and AI-enabled workflows that help clients and internal teams make better decisions.
This role sits at the intersection of applied economics, analytical research, and emerging AI tools. It is designed for a professional who combines quantitative training — including econometrics, economic modeling, or policy research — with practical experience building AI-assisted tools, automating workflows, or developing agent-based systems.
The ideal candidate is not simply a data analyst or a technical builder, but someone who brings both capabilities together. They can write a rigorous economic analysis report for a client and also design an AI agent to support opportunity management and proposal development.
Key Responsibilities
Economic and Policy Research
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative economic research to support client deliverables, regional intelligence reports, and strategic analyses.
- Apply econometric methods, labor market analysis, workforce demand modeling, and economic impact assessment to real-world questions.
- Contribute to economic intelligence outputs, including workforce trend analyses, industry reports, and economic insights publications.
- Translate complex economic findings into clear, accessible written products for diverse audiences, including executive briefings and public reports.
AI Systems and Workflow Automation
- Design, build, and maintain AI-enabled tools and agents that support internal operations, including opportunity tracking, proposal development, and knowledge management.
- Develop and refine AI-assisted workflows using large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and automation platforms.
- Support the testing, evaluation, and documentation of AI tool outputs to ensure accuracy, reliability, and usefulness.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive analytical or operational tasks and implement solutions in collaboration with senior staff.
Data Analysis and Decision Support
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that surface actionable insights for clients and internal teams.
- Clean, structure, and analyze data from diverse sources, including labor market data, government datasets, client operational data, and qualitative research.
- Support proposal development, business development research, and competitive intelligence through structured data analysis.
- Document analytical methods, data sources, assumptions, and workflows to ensure reproducibility and quality.
Qualifications
Required
- 3–6 years of relevant professional experience in economic research, data analytics, AI systems, applied research, consulting, or a related field.
- Academic or professional background in economics, econometrics, or quantitative policy research, with demonstrated ability to produce rigorous analytical deliverables.
- Hands-on experience building or supporting AI-enabled tools, agents, or automated workflows using large language models or similar technologies.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis, modeling, and automation.
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data, including government and labor market datasets, documents, and text-based sources.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write clear, well-structured analytical reports and technical documentation.
- Comfort managing multiple workstreams and delivering quality outputs with limited oversight.
Preferred
- Graduate degree (or advanced coursework) in economics, public policy, data science, applied statistics, or a related field.
- Experience with econometric modeling, workforce demand analysis, economic impact assessment, or labor market research.
- Experience building AI agents, RAG pipelines, semantic search tools, or LLM-enabled workflows.
- Familiarity with SQL, cloud platforms, APIs, or business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience working in consulting, federal contracting, economic development, workforce policy, or public-sector research environments.
- Portfolio, writing samples, GitHub, or project examples that demonstrate both analytical and technical capabilities.
