About the Team:
The TikTok E-commerce Governance and Experience team ensures our marketplace remains safe, trustworthy, and customer-centric across the globe. We protect users, sellers, and creators by designing policies, building systems, and managing operations that safeguard platform integrity.
About the Role:
We are seeking the Head of Risk Control & Security Operations for US to oversee our risk management and fraud prevention operations in the US. Beyond managing investigations and escalations, this role plays a critical part in partnering with regional business teams to balance growth with trust and safety. You will bridge business objectives and risk control goals, ensuring solutions are pragmatic, scalable, and aligned with both user trust and commercial priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Regional Risk Operations Analysts in making calibrated, context-aware decisions regarding the detection, investigation, and mitigation of risks.
- Drive the migration of traditional investigation workflows into LLM-driven automation, ensuring high precision and operational efficiency.
- Serve as the primary business partner to regional commercial and operations teams to understand their needs, identify potential risks, and co-develop solutions that enable safe growth.
- Own regional risk metrics and performance, utilizing advanced data analysis to detect abnormalities, investigate edge cases, and identify drivers behind on-call and appeal outcomes.
- Partner with Global Risk Domain, Product, and Data Science teams to co-design risk control strategies and close systemic gaps in the US market.
- Act as the escalation point for high-impact fraud incidents, high-priority appeals, and regulatory requests, ensuring timely and compliant resolutions.
- Direct the evolution of the LLM & Model QA function, focusing on RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) and root cause analysis for model false positives/negatives.
- Coach the team in transitioning skillsets toward deep-dive data analysis and AI model oversight, fostering a culture of technical curiosity and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in fraud operations, risk control, or Trust & Safety, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to balance business enablement with risk control, acting as a strategic consultant to business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the lifecycle of machine learning models or LLMs, including an understanding of RLHF, model tuning, or automated QA workflows.
- Strong investigative mindset with the ability to navigate complex data to find the "why" behind the numbers.
- Ability to translate technical model performance into clear business impact for leadership.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and lead teams through significant organizational and technological shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency or familiarity with SQL, Python, or similar data tools is a significant plus.
