Commonwealth Bank of Australia · Melbourne, AU
Job description
Advanced Analytics Analyst – AI Delivery & Governance
Do work that matters
We’re looking for a curious and delivery-focused Advanced Analytics Analyst to help ensure AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics models continue to perform, remain controlled, and deliver value after they are implemented.
You’ll use data, analytics, and model monitoring techniques to support the ongoing health of production model assets. This includes analysing model inputs, outputs and performance, investigating anomalies, supporting governance activities, and helping identify opportunities to improve models, controls and business outcomes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of data science, analytics delivery, operational performance and responsible AI governance. You’ll help turn model monitoring from a compliance activity into a valuable source of business insight.
See yourself in our team
You will be part of the Data Science team within Data & Analytics, supporting the delivery, monitoring and governance of advanced analytics, machine learning and AI solutions across the model lifecycle.
Our team ensures models are developed and implemented effectively, and also monitored, understood, maintained and continuously improved once they are live. We work closely with stakeholders across the bank to support responsible model use and sustainable value creation.
This role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, a risk-aware mindset, and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Why Bankwest?
Bankwest has a proud WA heritage and is on a journey to become Australia’s favourite digital bank. We’re customer-obsessed, move fast, and empower our people to make decisions that deliver meaningful outcomes.
You’ll join a collaborative, high-performing team where diverse thinking is valued and innovation is encouraged.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor performance for live Data Science and advanced analytics model assets.
- Investigate anomalies, performance changes, data quality issues and potential model drift, escalating issues where required.
- Maintain model-specific monitoring thresholds, controls, performance reporting and operational procedures.
- Analyse model scoring performance to identify trends, risks, degradation patterns and emerging business opportunities.
- Translate monitoring insights into recommendations for model improvement, recalibration, retraining or future feature development.
- Develop and maintain reports and visualisations to communicate model performance and insights.
- Support responsible AI governance and contribute to a mature Model Risk culture and continuous improvement activities.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in advanced analytics, data science, model monitoring, business analytics or a similar data-focused role.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Hands-on Python experience for data analysis, diagnostics, automation or model performance investigation.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms or tools such as Snowflake, AWS, SageMaker, Jupyter Notebooks and VSCode would also be beneficial.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts such as regression, classification, supervised and unsupervised learning, performance metrics and model drift.
- Experience using visualisation tools such as Tableau and/or Power BI to communicate insights and track performance.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes and recommend practical data-driven solutions.
- Sound understanding of risk management, controls and governance considerations in an analytics environment.
- Ability to translate technical analysis into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders, with strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented processes, standards and governance requirements.
- Knowledge of retail banking products is desirable.
What’s in it for You?
- Work on meaningful problems that impact real customers
- Help shape how live models are monitored, governed and improved across their lifecycle.
- Be part of a high-performing analytics team
- Opportunity to use cutting-edge tools and AI/ML technique
- Flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work environment
