Senior .Net Developer

Improvix Technologies · Baltimore, US

Job description

Senior .NET Developer / Tech Lead

Location: Onsite, Hybrid – 3x days / week – Washington, DC (3 on, 2 off)

Clearance Required: Active Secret

Join the Mission

Improvix Technologies is seeking a Senior .NET Developer / Tech Lead to support a fast-paced federal program delivering high-visibility mission outcomes. This role blends hands-on full stack development with technical leadership — ideal for a seasoned engineer who can build alongside the team while owning architecture, tooling decisions, and engineering standards at a higher level.

You will develop, maintain, and enhance applications built on Microsoft and modern web technologies — leveraging AI-powered developer tools to accelerate delivery — while serving as the senior technical voice guiding tool selection, design decisions, and the growth of the development team.

What You'll Do
Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using .NET (C#/ASP.NET Core) on the backend and React on the frontend, while owning the technical architecture, patterns, and standards behind them
Evaluate, select, and recommend tools, frameworks, libraries, and platforms — weighing tradeoffs in scalability, maintainability, security, and total cost of ownership
Build and consume REST APIs and guide the team's overall API strategy, including service design, authentication patterns, and integration with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and external systems
Develop scalable Node.js services and middleware to support application workflows
Leverage AI-powered developer tools — including GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, and similar assistants — to accelerate coding, code review, and documentation, and guide the team's adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices
Integrate and evaluate LLM-based features and AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) into application workflows where applicable
Design and build Power Apps (canvas and model-driven) to automate business processes, and provide architectural guidance on when Power Platform is the right fit versus custom development
Configure and manage Microsoft Dataverse as a data platform — including table design, relationships, business rules, and security roles — and establish data governance patterns for the team
Develop Power Automate flows to integrate Power Platform solutions with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and external APIs
Lead the modernization of legacy SharePoint-backed systems, defining migration roadmaps and executing against them
Lead technical design reviews, establish coding standards, and oversee code review processes to ensure quality and consistency across the team
Mentor mid-level and junior developers, conducting knowledge transfer sessions and growing the technical capability of the team
Define and improve CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, and release management practices to support frequent, reliable deployments
Perform operational support (O&M), bug fixes, and enhancements across the application stack, prioritizing and remediating technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and security risks
Partner with program leadership, government stakeholders, and team members to translate mission requirements into achievable technical solutions and meet delivery timelines
Troubleshoot, debug, and test applications across frontend and backend layers to ensure stability and performance
Work onsite with the team to support rapid collaboration and delivery
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
8+ years of progressive experience in .NET development (C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core), including experience in a technical lead or senior engineering role
Demonstrated experience making architecture and technology selection decisions for enterprise applications — and the ability to articulate the reasoning behind them
Proficiency in React — including hooks, component design, state management, and building responsive UIs
Experience developing server-side applications or APIs with Node.js
Demonstrated use of AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, or similar code-generation assistants in a professional setting
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform — including Power Apps (canvas and/or model-driven), Power Automate, and Power BI — with the judgment to know when low-code is and isn't the right answer
Working knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse — including data modeling, table configuration, relationships, and security roles
Experience supporting or modernizing SharePoint-backed systems, with familiarity across SharePoint Online and legacy SharePoint (2013 or newer)
Deep experience with MS SQL, Entity Framework, and RESTful API design and consumption
Experience establishing or maturing CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows, with strong Git fundamentals for source control and collaborative development
Experience leading code reviews, setting coding standards, and mentoring developers
Strong understanding of application security concepts, Active Directory, and identity/access patterns in enterprise environments
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 / Office suite — including SharePoint Online, Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and OneDrive — in a collaborative enterprise environment
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical recommendations to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work onsite in a federal environment (occasional Saturday hours may be required for deployment activities)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience architecting solutions in Azure cloud environments, including deployments in a federal or FedRAMP context
Experience integrating LLM/AI APIs (e.g., Azure OpenAI, OpenAI API, Hugging Face) into production applications
Familiarity with AI development platforms and prompt engineering techniques
Familiarity with Dataverse for Teams and Power Apps embedded in Microsoft Teams
Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with TypeScript for frontend and/or Node.js development
Exposure to containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes
Understanding of Section 508 accessibility standards
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Power Platform Solution Architect, or equivalent
