Director of Technology
General Requirements:
Degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
7+ years of industry experience in Deep Learning, Computer Vision, or Machine Learning engineering, including successful building and shipping of commercial-grade products
Startup experience and execution mentality is highly preferred
Strong Python, Linux, and shell programming skills for backend, DevOps, and databases
Expertise in Machine Learning and AI, including supervised learning, semi-supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning, and with frameworks such as PyTorch and Scikit-Learn
Expertise in Computer Vision, including algorithms, features, filters, non-linear optimization, 3D geometry, computational photography, and with frameworks/toolkits such as OpenCV
Strong mathematical background including PDE, Linear Algebra, Fourier transform, multivariate, high dimensional modeling, and statistics/probability theory for object detection methodologies
Experience leading and coaching a team of computer vision, deep learning, and/or machine learning engineers
Strong written/verbal communication skills
Solid references
Technical Requirements:
Expertise in one of the following numerical libraries: (Preferred) Pytorch, TensorFlow
Strong experience in common machine learning techniques: linear and multilinear regressions, image segmentations, object detections, CNNs, RNNs, SVMs, decision trees, and etc.
Strong experience in Python’s numerical libraries: Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Open-CV, SciPy, Scikit-Learn, and, etc.
Strong experience in Linux, and shell programming for backend, MLOps (AWS, Weights and Bias, etc.), DevOps (Docker, CI/CD, training & testing pipeline automation), and databases including solid experience with data analytics, predictive and prescriptive data
Strong experience in version control and test-driven development: reviewing team members’ git commits, pushes, and branch merges, resolving conflicts, and approving pull requests, maintaining version releases and performing unit testing
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous start-up experience and execution mentality
A master’s degree in computer science or a related field
7+ years of computer vision and machine learning experience
Expertise in Computer Vision techniques: feature/color spaces, and a wide range of algorithms, features (SIFT, SURF), filters, non-linear optimization, custom layer and loss function design, and etc.
Experience in training process optimization and distributive training
Experience working on AWS: S3, EC2, EFS, SageMaker, and etc.
Experience in commercial application deployment such as Apple’s CoreML module, TensorFlow Lite, TensorFlow Mobile, etc.
Experience in reviewing and writing technical documents
Previous technical publications and open-source contribution
Example Responsibilities:
Design and implement algorithms for feature extraction, signal processing, classification from optically generated image and video data
Develop advanced computer vision & AI techniques for use in feature engineering and extraction of key phenotypic features from image and video data generated by consumer smart device optical-modality hardware
Acquire ground truth metrics to cross-validate, analyze, and evaluate models
Build and lead a team of computer vision engineers, while motivating and monitoring them to ensure deadlines and milestones are met successfully
Support CEO/CTO with R&D, novel discoveries, training data for BioEngine4D
Work with our UI/UX developer team building a consumer iOS application
