Position Type: Part-Time, Hourly
Schedule: School Days Only (Approximately 190 Days Per Year)
Hours: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
About Kūlia Academy
Kūlia Academy is Hawaiʻi's first public charter school offering a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence and Data Science pathway. We are seeking an innovative and passionate AI Robotics & Autonomous Systems Instructor to develop and lead a hands-on afterschool program for middle school students.
This is not a traditional robotics club position. We are looking for someone excited about building a unique program that explores artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, computer vision, programming, autonomous systems, engineering, and innovation. The successful candidate will have significant freedom to design projects, competitions, and learning experiences that inspire students and help establish one of Hawaiʻi's most innovative STEM programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead afterschool AI robotics and autonomous systems activities from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
- Assist with student supervision and dismissal procedures from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
- Develop engaging hands-on projects involving:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Robotics
- Drones
- Computer Vision
- Python Programming
- Autonomous Vehicles
- Sensors and Electronics
- Engineering Design
- Data Science Applications
- Inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and artificial intelligence.
- Identify and prepare students for robotics, AI, drone, coding, engineering, or innovation competitions.
- Explore opportunities to create new student innovation challenges and competitions in Hawaiʻi.
- Maintain a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in robotics, programming, artificial intelligence, engineering, drones, computer science, data science, or related fields.
- Experience teaching, mentoring, coaching, or working with youth preferred.
- Passion for innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on learning.
- Ability to make advanced technology concepts accessible and exciting for middle school students.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to pass required background checks and employment requirements.
