Software Engineer, AI Deployment Infrastructure
Tesla · San Jose, US
Job description
What to Expect Tesla AI's Deployment Infrastructure team is building the systems that enable extremely fast model iteration and dynamic deployment on end-user hardware.
Our infrastructure is already the fastest way to evaluate Tesla's AI in the real world, and the mission is to make this final step even faster, more robust, and as seamless as possible.
Beyond speed, our systems are core to 24/7 Optimus model evaluation, reinforcement learning flows, weights installation on Tesla products around the world, driving vehicles autonomously off factory lines, and seamless deployment across countries.
The team lives at the intersection of cloud services, build systems, on-device tasks, OTA infrastructure, AI model runtime, networking stack, and security. You will set the new standard for deployments at Tesla, directly accelerating FSD and Optimus programs.
What You'll Do* Design and build high-impact systems, cloud, delivery, device, that together tighten the feedback loop between model training and real-world evaluation on target hardware
- Select and implement technologies that optimize performance, cost, and robustness across deployment environments: from factories to outdoor sites to training clusters
- Collaborate with Firmware and Security teams to develop faster, more granular builds, enabling targeted updates, dynamic configurations, and rapid iteration without full reflash cycles
- Develop and maintain observability systems, including monitoring, metrics, and alerting, for complete visibility from device to cloud
What You'll Bring* Hands-on experience in application-layer development using Python, Go and/or C++
- Strong foundation in Linux systems, networking, cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes
- Strong foundation in concurrent programming
- Autonomous and resourceful with strong product instincts: you enjoy talking to engineers across teams, can convert a vague ask into a shipped solution end-to-end, and have a natural tendency to carve out what's next
- Bonus if familiar with connectivity hardware, modern build systems (bazel, scons), and/or data center infrastructure
