Senior Data Scientist – Corporate Training

Attadale is a Chicago-based consultancy delivering leading edge data science solutions for our Fortune 500 clients, and we are expanding our ML team to include a training and development group. We are looking for senior data scientists experienced in the development and delivery of custom data science training programs. Potential candidates should be equally comfortable as a member of the data science team and delivering applied data science for our clients. As part of our solutions, Attadale has developed custom training programs for our clients, including training for regulated processes. We are extending this expertise to provide full-time immersive boot camps for our client employees in machine learning, natural language processing, and broader data science curriculums. In addition to in-person curriculums, Attadale will pilot online learning programs to broaden a solution offering. Whether online or on premise, our target program is custom developed training for our corporate clients.

Primary responsibilities fall into three broad categories of development, delivery, and growth

Curriculum Development

• Develop and maintain master curricula for a series of different data science domains
• Create client-specific custom curriculum and supporting material, including data sets, instructional material, job aids, technology requirements, and critical success factors
• Develop a methodology for pre- and post- training assessment to measure student outcomes
• Work with Attadale’s data science team to continually refine and enhance the curricula to assure inclusion of leading edge technology developments, data sets, and the like
• Introduce leading edge teaching techniques and tools to provide the most dynamic and impactful student experience possible

Training Delivery

• Prepare materials for corporate training and delivering pre-course checklist
• Manage the full life cycle of a training program including pre- and post-training assessments, logistic considerations, environment set-up and approval, curriculum readiness, and incorporate any unique client requests or requirements.
• Lead onsite training delivery, and develop a leadership program for teaching assistants and co-instructors
• Identify immediate and/or longer-term enhancements to advance the curriculum and delivery

Business Growth

• Actively support the marketing of Attadale’s data science training capabilities through thought leadership, active participation in data science communities, and participation in client development
• Maintain currency with industry trends in data science, curriculum development, teaching methods, and introduce constant enhancements to the programs

Requirements and preferred capabilities

• Entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to grow a business line
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills and an ability to communicate with technical staff and executive audiences
• Minimum three years experience teaching technical subjects, and demonstrated experience training and developing software engineers transitioning to data scientists through instruction and pair programming.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the insurance industry, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry
• Masters or PhD in natural language processing, dialogue, or computer vision, or a quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science, bioinformatics, with a strong mathematical background and ability to understand algorithms and methods from both mathematical and intuitive viewpoints
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for both quantitative analysis and data engineering, and at least one open-source NLP toolkit such as OpenNLP, CoreNLP, gensim, NLTK, etc.
• Ability to travel up to eighty percent of the time to deliver training onsite at client locations
