Back-end Engineer Integration and AI (PHP/Python)

We’re looking for engineers with experience in PHP/back-end development and AI integrations to join our integrations team!

You would work with the engineering team to bring new features and improvements to the server back-end like new authentication or storage mechanisms, audio/video chat and more, as well as integrating AI into the Nextcloud platform (e.g. LLMs, speech-to-text, and image processing services). You ideally have open source experience and know your way around git and GitHub.

Responsibilities:

• Feature development
• Integration of AI services and models (Python / APIs / microservices)
• Database design
• Systems design
• Quality assurance
• Project-based development, working on one project for a defined timeframe

Required skills:

• Technical experience with PHP and a bit of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Experience with Python for AI/ML integrations
• Experience with one or more frontend frameworks like VueJS, React, Angular, or Svelte
• Familiarity with AI/LLM frameworks (e.g. Hugging Face, LangChain)
• Familiarity with REST APIs and REST-based AI services
• Understanding of containerization (Docker) and model deployment workflows
• Experience with speech, vision, or NLP integrations (e.g. Whisper, OCR, embeddings)
• Knowledge of open source technology
• Ideally experience with Nextcloud AI features or similar platforms
• Reliability, independent and self-reliant working style
