Data Scientist (near-site, Brussels) - MAIA

Position: Data engineer.
Location: Near-site (Brussels).
Rate: 570€/day.
Start date: To be confirmed (ASAP).
Language: Services will be provided in English. Consultants must have at least a B2 level, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Minimum post-secundary education required: at least 3 years of studies attested by a diploma.

Minimum professional experience required: a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, 3 of them in a similar position.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data integration processes that consolidate information from multiple sources for use by business systems and services.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of data across the organisation.
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies, including data access, integrity, security, and privacy controls.
  • Maintain and manage metadata repositories to support effective data governance and data lifecycle management.
  • Design, administer, and optimise relational and non-relational databases to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Develop, optimise, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and other database objects.
  • Manage database change processes, including deployment, version control, and documentation.
  • Define and administer database access rights and security permissions in accordance with organisational policies.
  • Support data architecture initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of data management practices and standards.

Specific expertise:

  • Proven experience with relational and non-relational database technologies, including Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge of database design, SQL development, performance tuning, and database administration.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages for data processing and automation, such as Python and R.
  • Solid understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT processes, data modelling, and data pipeline development.
  • Experience with data governance and data management platforms such as Talend, Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Databricks, and Oracle data management solutions.
  • Proficiency in data visualisation and reporting tools, including Power BI, Qlik, and Tableau.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and services, such as Azure Synapse Analytics and AWS DataZone.
  • Good understanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, and information security best practices.
