Job description
Department Manager of AI Strategy, Innovation and Adoption at Novo Nordisk Engineering
If you're energised by shaping how AI transforms the way we engineer and you thrive on building high-impact teams at the intersection of strategy and execution, we'd love to hear from you!
Who we are
We are a leading pharma engineering company shaping the future of API pharma engineering globally. Leveraging the expertise of 2,000+ employees across Denmark, India, and the US, we design, build and optimise pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are essential to the health and well-being of patients everywhere.
Our success is driven by passion, innovation, and collaboration — with our customers and across our teams and disciplines. If you share our dedication to a noble cause and our passion for API pharma engineering, then NNE is the place for you.
About the role
We are looking for a Department Manager for our newly established AI Strategy, Innovation and Adoption department within the Engineering Model Transformation (EMT) area.
As Department Manager, you will build and lead a high-performing team across AI strategy, innovation, and adoption, shaping how digital and AI-driven solutions are identified, matured, prioritised and implemented across NNE.
You will define and drive the strategic narrative for how AI transforms our engineering model and ways of working, while working closely with executive leadership, our Global IT department and EMT management to ensure seamless collaboration between business and technical enablement.
In this newly established role, you will inspire and develop your team, engage senior stakeholders, and lead key initiatives that translate AI ambitions into tangible organisational impact.
Your contribution will be critical in building the team and capabilities that drive NNE's AI-powered transformation of our engineering model and ways of working.

How you might spend your days
As Department Manager of the newly established AI Strategy, Innovation and Adoption department, you will be responsible for building the playbook within five key areas:
- Establishing a Center of Excellence in cooperation with Global IT and line of business driving the implementation of our AI strategy to transform our engineering model and ways of working
- Establishing a process for capturing and maturing AI opportunities for prioritisation that drives measurable business impact
- Aligning business adoption and technical enablement with Global IT to deliver a cohesive, scalable approach to AI across NNE
- Building and scaling a high-performing team across AI strategy, innovation, and adoption including hiring, developing talent, and balancing team capacity across these areas
- Fostering a culture where employees take ownership, grow their capabilities, and create results through clear direction and continuous support by leading with trust and empowerment
Who you are
We care about who you are as a person. In the end, how you work, and your energy is what impacts the results we achieve as a team. As a person, you are:
- Energised by building and leading a new team and comfortable setting direction when the playbook hasn’t been written yet
- A skilled communicator who can craft compelling narratives and engage confidently with senior executives
- Collaborative and inclusive, with a genuine interest in bridging different perspectives across business, IT and engineering
- Have empowering leadership skills to facilitate self-driven team members, inspiring trust and creating clarity in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Possessing a strategic mindset with the ability to transform strategic initiatives into tangible, value-adding actions
What you bring to the role
In all positions, there are some things that are preferred, and others, a bonus. If you do not meet all the qualifications listed below, you are welcome to offer alternative experience that you think would be valuable in this role:
- Significant experience in strategy, digital transformation or management consulting
- Extensive understanding of the AI and digital solution landscape (including self-service AI and general automation) and can translate this into actionable strategy
- Proven experience managing senior stakeholder relationships and driving alignment across complex organisations
- Degree within a relevant area e.g. Business Adminstration & Strategy, Technology Management, Data Science or Machine learning
- Experience in pharma, engineering or capital projects environments, and familiarity with change management and adoption frameworks (e.g. ADKAR, Prosci) is an advantage but not a requirement
