AI & Automation Specialist for Construction Company - Contract to on-going

Vinland Homes · Remote · Saskatoon

Job description

Job Description

We are a full-service residential home builder located in Saskatoon looking for a hands-on AI and automation specialist to help us identify and build practical efficiency gains across our operations.

We have already deployed automations and have utilized AI in-house and we can see how much more there is that can be done, so now its time to bring in additional help.

This is a temporary contract role that starts with a paid discovery phase: you'll spend time with our team — on-site, walking through how we actually run things — to map where AI tools and automations can save time, reduce errors, and cut manual busywork. From there, you'll scope and build those solutions, with the potential for ongoing work as we expand what we automate.

The tools and automations will be deployed and hosted within our control on our servers, accounts, etc.

We want someone who can find the opportunity and ship the working tool. If you like turning messy real-world processes into clean automated workflows, you'll enjoy this.

What you'll work on:

  • Collaborate with members of our team mapping our day-to-day workflows: administration, documentation, permit handling, and much more.
  • Building automations that connect the tools we already use.
  • Setting up AI assistants for tasks.
  • Manage data collection, cleaning, and analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Stay updated with emerging AI trends and integrate innovative solutions into ongoing projects.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of data used in AI applications.
  • Provide training and support to team members on new AI tools and systems.
  • Document processes and maintain detailed records of development activities so that we can maintain systems in-house.

Required qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience building real automations — be ready to show examples or a portfolio.
  • Hands-on with no-code/low-code platforms and connecting tools via APIs.
  • Comfortable working with AI/LLM tools (OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude, custom GPTs) to build practical workflows.
  • Able to sit with non-technical staff, understand how a business actually operates, and translate that into a working solution.
  • Clear communicator who can explain things in plain language and hand off something we can maintain.

Nice to have:

  • Light scripting ability (Python or JavaScript) for cases the no-code tools can't cover
  • Experience automating for small/medium businesses or operations-heavy companies
  • Any familiarity with construction, trades, or project-based businesses
  • Saskatoon-based or able to be on-site here for the discovery phase

How to apply:

You may submit your resume, but please also submit a cover letter detailing your experience with our requirements, and what hourly and project based compensation you're expecting. Applications without this cover letter will be discarded.

Ready to help build the future of construction? Join us as our AI & Automation Specialist and help shape innovative solutions that redefine industry standards.

Pay: $15,000.00-$30,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
  • Work from home

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Saskatoon, SK
