Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer

We are looking for several Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineers / Customer-Facing Software Engineers to work directly with customer engineering teams and help them apply AI in real software development. These roles are hands-on positions for experienced engineers who can quickly understand a customer’s technical environment, identify where AI can create practical impact, and build working solutions together with the customer team.

We expect this person to combine strong software engineering skills with customer-facing confidence and practical AI experience. They should be able to use AI tools to improve coding, debugging, documentation, testing, automation, and development workflows. The ideal candidate is not only an advisor or architect, but someone who builds, coaches other engineers, provides technical direction, and helps turn early ideas into real implementations.

We are interested in candidates with different but complementary strengths. One person does not need to cover all areas equally. Some candidates may have a stronger background in software development, embedded systems, or industrial software, while others may bring deeper experience in software testing, QA automation, or engineering productivity. What matters most is strong hands-on engineering capability, practical AI experience, and the ability to work closely with customer teams to turn ideas into real implementations.

What will you do:

• Work directly with customer engineering teams to understand their technical environment, challenges, and development workflows.
• Identify where AI can create practical impact in software development, testing, QA automation, and engineering productivity.
• Design and implement AI-assisted development and testing workflows.
• Build working proof-of-concepts, tools, automation solutions, and initial implementations.
• Use AI tools to improve coding, debugging, documentation, test creation, and software quality.
• Coach customer engineers, provide technical direction, and help turn early ideas into real solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Senior / Lead-level software engineering background with strong hands-on development experience.
• Strong experience in embedded software development, software testing, QA automation, industrial software, or a combination of these.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle, debugging, test automation, CI/CD, and quality engineering practices.
• Practical experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, OpenAI-based tools, or similar.
• Ability to use AI to improve coding, debugging, documentation, test creation, test automation, and developer productivity.
• Experience building practical software solutions, including proof-of-concepts, scripts, automation tools, integrations, and production-quality initial implementations.
• Ability to own customer-facing technical work end-to-end, from understanding the problem and proposing an approach to building, validating, and handing over the solution.
• Customer-facing mindset with strong communication skills, ability to coach engineers, and fluent English; Finnish is considered a plus.
