AI Transformation Leader

Furnitureland South, Inc. · Greensboro, US

Job description

Job purpose

Furnitureland South is building a practical, responsible, and measurable AI operating system across the business. The AI Transformation Leader will serve as an embedded AI Leader-in-Residence, helping move the company from isolated AI training and experimentation to repeatable business value through strategy, workflow improvement, training, governance, adoption, and measured implementation.

This role will be broad across the company and deep in a few high-value areas. The first 90 days will establish an enterprise view of needs and opportunities, launch a small number of carefully measured pilots, strengthen internal trainer and AI champions’ capability, and produce a six- to twelve-month roadmap for sustainable AI-enabled improvement.

Essential Functions and responsibilities

  • AI strategy, roadmap, and governance: Partner with leadership to define AI priorities, opportunity selection criteria, responsible-use boundaries, ownership, success measures, and a practical AI roadmap aligned to Furnitureland South business goals.
  • Opportunity portfolio and pilot execution: Build and maintain a prioritized portfolio of AI opportunities. Select two or three high-value workflows for controlled pilots with clear business owners, intended users, baselines, risk levels, human-review points, and decision dates.
  • Tool, agent, workflow, and playbook improvement: Review, refine, and strengthen existing AI tools, agents, chatbots, workflows, playbooks, and training resources already developed by team members. Evaluate emerging platforms and recommend where AI can improve business outcomes, usability, adoption, and return on investment.
  • Department innovation and workflow redesign: Work with executives, department leaders, AI Champions, and employees to listen to real work, identify recurring pain points, map opportunities, and move the strongest ideas from concept to evidence-based implementation.
  • Training and internal capability building: Partner with Organizational Development, Sales Education, trainers, managers, and AI Champions to design role-specific training, job aids, guided practice, office hours, and sustainable support models that help employees use AI responsibly and effectively.
  • AI Enablement Dashboard and evidence base: Create and maintain an AI Enablement Dashboard that tracks activity, opportunities, momentum, pilot outcomes, risks, decisions, repeat-use patterns, barriers, and documented learning throughout the engagement.
  • Measurement, learning, and scale decisions: Establish baseline measures before claiming improvement, evaluate pilots against agreed success criteria, document what worked and what did not, and recommend whether to expand, refine, continue testing, pause, or stop each initiative.
  • Responsible AI and risk management: Coordinate with IT and appropriate leaders to reinforce data security, customer confidentiality, human judgment, output validation, escalation paths, and appropriate use of approved systems and tools.
  • AI Sales Innovator support: Help train, coach, and equip the AI Sales Innovator role with practical methods, sales-use cases, playbooks, prompts, and responsible AI practices that support sales performance, client experience, follow-up, and manager coaching.
  • Industry leadership and strategic positioning: Support selected external-facing opportunities such as grants, thought leadership, and Furnitureland South’s positioning as a practical AI leader in the furniture industry, using validated results and approved communications processes.

Competencies

  • Business-first AI strategy and practical implementation
  • Strong facilitation, teaching, coaching, and change-management capability
  • Cross-functional influence with executives, managers, trainers, IT, and frontline employees
  • Ability to translate complex AI concepts into clear, usable workflows and playbooks
  • Strong documentation, dashboard, measurement, and evidence-building discipline
  • Responsible AI judgment, including human-review boundaries, data handling, and risk awareness
  • Systems thinking, curiosity, experimentation, prioritization, and continuous improvement mindset
  • Clear written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Advanced study, certification, or demonstrated professional work in AI literacy, learning design, organizational development, technology adoption, data, business transformation, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience helping teams understand, adopt, and apply generative AI or related technologies in practical work settings.
  • Experience designing and delivering training, workshops, office hours, coaching, playbooks, guides, or enablement resources for adult learners or professional teams.
  • Ability to evaluate AI use cases through business value, readiness, risk, measurability, adoption potential, and employee impact.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Copilot or similar generative AI tools, workflow documentation, prompt design, responsible-use practices, and AI-enabled productivity methods.
  • Experience collaborating with IT, training, operations, sales, marketing, HR, customer service, or other business functions preferred.
