Job Description
Object Technology Solutions, Inc (OTSI) has an immediate opening for a I/C Engineering Specialist 5
I/C Engineering Specialist 5 (onsite - Overland Park, KS)
Multiple other locations : Overland Park, KS or Denver, CO or Arlington, VA
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:
- In this role, you will perform the following:
- Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplines
- Create conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications and design analysis deliverables
- Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production
- Perform quality control duties and independent technical reviews
- Manage assigned budgets, scopes and schedules
- Mentoring and providing guidance/instruction to less experienced staff members
- Other potential duties:
- May perform fieldwork and write assessment reports
- May assist with creation of design guides and templates
- May provide support to business development or pursuit activities
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

- we can provide one-of-a-kind solutions to complex mission objectives that arise out of specific challenges faced by and unique to these agencies. Our primary areas of focus are: Architecture/Engineering (A/E) Services, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental.
- Preferred Qualifications
- As part of this role, you will be assigned to projects supporting U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Due to the nature of the work,
- The following are preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systems
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective
- Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivity
- Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systems
- Experience in audio-visual (AV) system design
- 4+ years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Qualifications
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
- Certifications
- Will also consider candidates if they have direct Federal experience but no RCDD but DOES have plans of sitting for the RCDD in the next few months.
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (required)
- Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) certification (preferred)
