Job Description

Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished Head of Engineering to lead the delivery, modernization, and scale of our Wealth Technology platforms. This leader will be responsible for building and leading high-performing engineering organizations that deliver innovative, secure, and scalable technology solutions supporting advisors, clients, and business partners across the wealth management ecosystem.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading large-scale engineering organizations, modernizing mission-critical platforms, and partnering closely with product, operations, compliance, and business stakeholders to drive growth and operational excellence. This leader will play a key role in advancing our cloud, data, and AI strategy while fostering an engineering culture centered on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Organizational Excellence

  • Lead and develop a global engineering organization consisting of software engineering, quality engineering, architecture, platform engineering, and engineering management teams in support of a financial services business - ideally for the wealth and asset management division.
  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering leaders and teams across multiple

locations and time zones.

  • Establish a culture of accountability, innovation, technical excellence, and customer-centric delivery.
  • Drive organizational effectiveness through engineering best practices, talent development, succession planning, and performance management.

Technology Strategy & Platform Modernization

  • Partner with the Head of Wealth Technology to define and execute the technology vision, engineering strategy, and multi-year modernization roadmap.
  • Lead transformation of legacy platforms into scalable, cloud-native architectures leveraging microservices, APIs, event-driven design, and modern engineering practices.
  • Ensure platforms meet demanding requirements for availability, resiliency, performance, scalability, and security.
  • Champion engineering standards, architecture governance, and technology lifecycle management.

Wealth Management Platform Delivery

  • Oversee engineering delivery for advisor-facing and client-facing wealth management platforms, including trading, portfolio management, retirement, planning, reporting, digital experiences, and operational workflows.
  • Drive platform capabilities that improve advisor productivity, client engagement, operational efficiency, and business growth.
  • Collaborate with product management and business stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into execution plans and measurable outcomes.

Data, Analytics & AI Innovation

  • Lead engineering efforts supporting enterprise data platforms, analytics capabilities, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Partner with data and product teams to build scalable data architectures enabling self-service analytics, advanced reporting, machine learning, and generative AI use cases.
  • Drive adoption of modern cloud data platforms, data lakehouse architectures, and AI technologies to enhance advisor experiences and business decision-making.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to create competitive differentiation through innovation.

Cloud, DevOps & Platform Engineering

  • Advance cloud-native engineering practices across AWS and modern containerized environments.
  • Drive adoption of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure automation, observability, and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
  • Establish reusable platform services and developer productivity capabilities that accelerate engineering delivery and improve quality.

Risk, Compliance & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure technology solutions comply with regulatory, security, privacy, and operational risk requirements.
  • Partner with Information Security, Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to maintain robust controls and governance frameworks.
  • Establish operational metrics and service level objectives to continuously improve platform reliability and customer experience.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including leadership of large-scale software engineering organizations.
  • Experience leading organizations of 75+ engineers across multiple disciplines and geographic locations.
  • Proven track record modernizing enterprise platforms through cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems.
  • Deep experience delivering customer-facing platforms in wealth management, capital markets, banking, fintech, retirement, or financial services.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with executive stakeholders to align technology investments with business outcomes.
  • Experience managing large-scale digital transformation initiatives with measurable business impact.

. Must have Series 99 or ability to obtain it within 6 months.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of modern cloud architectures, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with cloud technologies including Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, serverless architectures, and distributed systems.
  • Expertise in modern software development practices, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and engineering excellence frameworks.
  • Experience with enterprise data platforms, data lakehouses, analytics ecosystems, and AI/ML platforms.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Java, Python, React, Kafka, Snowflake, and modern data and integration platforms.
  • Understanding of generative AI technologies, large language models, and enterprise AI adoption strategies.

  • Exceptional communicator capable of influencing across executive, business, and technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead through organizational transformation and change.
  • Strong customer orientation with a passion for delivering business value through technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting advisor platforms, trading systems, portfolio management, retirement platforms, lending solutions, or wealth management operations.
  • Experience implementing enterprise AI solutions and data-driven products.
  • Experience building cloud-native SaaS platforms serving large customer bases and high transaction volumes.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.

In the first 12–24 months, the Head of Engineering will:
