Applied AI Engineer

Job description
About Superpanel
Superpanel (superpanel.io) is bringing AI autonomous commerce to contact center services.
We're a rapidly growing, venture-backed startup with customers across North America and a deep belief in building simple, powerful tools that create measurable value from day one.
The Role
We're looking for an Applied AI Developer to join our small, fast-moving team. You'll work at the intersection of AI agent, customer experience, and software engineering — translating real customer needs into working AI-powered workflows across voice, SMS, and email. This is a high-ownership role where you'll shape how our agents communicate, think, and perform.
What You'll Do
-
Understand customer requests and translate them into clear, actionable AI agent behaviors
-
Communicate directly with external customers to gather requirements, deliver updates, and iterate on solutions
-
Collaborate with internal teams (product, engineering, operations) to align on goals and execution
-
Write integration scripts to connect AI agents with third-party tools, CRMs, APIs, and communication channels
-
Design and tune AI prompts to guide natural, effective conversations across different contexts
-
Test and QA AI agents across multiple channels — email, SMS, and phone calls — ensuring consistent and high-quality experiences
-
Apply strong UX sensibility to craft conversation flows that feel intuitive and human
-
Identify gaps in agent performance and continuously improve prompt logic, routing, and response quality
You Might Be a Fit If You
-
Have a genuine curiosity for AI and conversational systems
-
Are a strong communicator — equally comfortable talking to customers and collaborating with engineers
-
Think carefully about user experience and what makes an interaction feel good
-
Take initiative, move fast, and know when to ask for help
-
Want to be a foundational team member at a fast-growing AI startup
Requirements
-
Proficiency in JavaScript (required)
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (required)
-
Experience writing scripts, automations, or integrations
-
Familiarity with AI/LLM prompting and prompt engineering
-
Strong written communication skills in English
Bonus Points
-
Experience with conversational AI platforms, chatbots, or voice agents
-
Hands-on experience with Twilio, Gmail API, CRMs, or other third-party integrations
-
Based in the Greater Toronto Area
