Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics RA III / Scientist I with expertise in AI/ML and assay design to join our innovative research team in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will leverage bioinformatics, machine learning, and molecular biology to develop next-generation primer design systems for molecular diagnostics.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Python programming, machine learning, PCR, primer design, bioinformatics workflows, and genomic data analysis. You will work with high-throughput PCR and sequencing datasets to build intelligent models that improve assay performance and automate bioinformatics workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable pipelines for processing PCR and NGS datasets.
- Analyze experimental data and engineer biologically meaningful features.
- Design, train, and optimize machine learning models for primer efficiency and assay performance.
- Build reproducible AI/ML workflows using Python.
- Develop AI-powered tools for primer design and assay optimization.
- Apply deep learning and LLM technologies to improve assay development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including molecular biology and research scientists.
- Continuously improve models using newly generated experimental data.
- Maintain bioinformatics workflows in Linux environments.
- Use Git for version control and collaborative software development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
- Bioinformatics experience including sequence analysis and primer design.
- Knowledge of PCR principles and assay development.
- Experience analyzing NGS or genomic sequencing data.
- Strong statistical and data analysis skills.
