Founding Technical Staff, Machine Learning Engineer
Ambient Consulting · Los Angeles, US
Job description
Physical AI will decide the balance of power for the next century. It runs on components built by Original Component Manufacturers at the base of America's most critical supply chains. The capacity isn't missing. It's trapped. The bottleneck is the decision infrastructure surrounding production lines.
AIC is a software-led industrial holding company. We built AIC OS, an operating system grounded in Decision Physics, and deploy it alongside the people running the shop floor. Our team embeds on-site and deploys software that elevates operators in weeks and changes what a factory can do. Not SaaS licenses.
We call ourselves Software Industrialists. We run toward complexity, not away from it. If that's how you see the world, AIC is where you belong.
The Role
- Embed on-site with design partners for meaningful stretches of the year — their floor is your second office.
- Build trust across the full vertical, from the GM to the technician running the station. This isn't color on the role; it is the role. Software shipped without this trust doesn't get adopted.
- Develop genuine understanding of how each partner's shop works and why — the history, constraints, people, and physics of what moves through it.
- Translate unstructured observation into concrete requirements, then build, ship, and maintain the software yourself and through the engineers you coordinate on-site and at HQ.
- Write production code across the full stack — ETL, backend, micro-frontends, algorithms, hardware integrations, ML pipelines, analyses, infrastructure.
- Run the process-engineering side of deployment — sequencing software changes with operational changes so the two evolve in lockstep, including the cultural work: training, change management, work instructions, quiet one-on-ones with skeptics.
- Own outcomes, not deliverables. Success is measured in operational maturity and financial outcomes gained by the partner, not features shipped.
Who you are
- 1-10 years of experience in MLE development
- Fundamental knowledge of ETL, backend services, micro-frontends, algorithms, hardware integrations, ML pipelines, infrastructure
- 1+ years of shipping production grade code
- Strong EQ/Communication skills
- Hard-tech, robotics, and manufacturing background or adjacency is a big plus
Our Interview Process:
- Recruiter Screen (30 mins)
- Coding Test (45 mins)
- Video Call w/ Founder (1 hr)
- Video Call w. Co-Founder (1 hr)
- Final Onsite (2.5 hrs)
Comp: $180K-$250K + Meaningful Founding Engineer Equity
