About the role: The Senior AI Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and scaling of advanced AI and Agentic AI solutions, with a strong focus on business impact in Sales (AI Sales Assistant). The role owns end-to-end AI systems-from architecture design to production operations-while ensuring quality, governance, and scalability. The position works closely with Sales, IT, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into robust AI solutions. Success is measured by adoption, business impact, system performance, and scalability. Your role will be an integral part of the central AI Innovation Hub being established at Solar Trade Holding. Together in a team of developers, data scientists, project managers you will drive AI innovation at Solar Trade.

What You Will Do

Lead development and deployment of machine learning and AI solutions in production

Oversee full AI lifecycle management including data preparation, development, training, deployment, monitoring, optimization

Establish evaluation frameworks and performance monitoring (accuracy, cost, latency, drift)

Responsible for AI governance, and adherence to ethical standards, and compliance frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act, GDPR)

Identify and prioritize AI opportunities aligned with business strategy

Guide integration of AI into existing systems and workflows by ensuring integration of CRM, ERP, and sales data into AI-driven systems

Act as technical authority and advisor to business and leadership

Develop and maintain (automized) data pipelines and ML tooling

Monitor business impact, usage, and system performance

Select and continuously evolve development process within AI development team

Conduct ideation workshops together with project manager and business and guide whether their problems can be solved by AI solutions or Analytical solutions

What You Bring

Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field

Extensive experience in Data Science and Machine Learning within production environments, with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale AI solutions

Deep expertise in large language models, retrieval-augmented generation systems, embeddings, and evaluation methods

Strong hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks and corresponding programming language (e.g. Python) and their libraries

Solid experience with cloud platforms and building scalable ML architectures

Proven capability in end-to-end AI system design, including orchestration, integration, deployment, and lifecycle management

Experience in model performance optimization, monitoring, and continuous improvement of AI systems

Familiarity with deploying and orchestrating AI agents

Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to translate business challenges into effective AI solutions and determine when AI or statistical or rule-based approaches are appropriate

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Ability to guide teams, define technical direction, and make sound decisions in complex environments

A proactive, adaptable mindset with a passion for working in a rapidly evolving AI landscape

C1-level English and minimum B2-level German, both written and spoken

Comfortable working in a hybrid setup and willing to travel occasionally within the EMEA region for collaboration and workshops

Experience in B2B sales environments and knowledge of the renewable energy or technology sector are advantageous
