Position Title: AI Intern
Department: Product & AI Innovation
Location: Jericho, NY
Duration: 10–12 Weeks (Summer 2026)
Hours: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Position Summary
The AI Intern will support the Product & AI Innovation team by assisting with artificial intelligence initiatives, automation projects, and data-driven innovation efforts across the organization.
This role is ideal for students who are curious, technically driven, and excited about applying AI and machine learning to real-world e-commerce, marketing, operations, and customer experience challenges.
You will gain exposure to enterprise-level AI strategy, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to solutions that enhance personalization, forecasting, and operational efficiency across our family of brands.
Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities (All Interns)
- Support department initiatives through research, documentation, and project coordination
- Assist with cross-functional collaboration across the 1-800-Flowers family of brands
- Attend team meetings, present findings, and share progress with stakeholders
- Participate in internship learning sessions, networking opportunities, and workshops
- Contribute ideas to enhance business processes and improve customer experience
AI & Machine Learning Focused Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, testing, and optimizing machine learning models
- Support data preprocessing, feature engineering, and dataset validation
- Analyze structured and unstructured data to uncover insights and automation opportunities
- Contribute to AI-driven personalization, recommendation engines, or forecasting models
- Assist with building dashboards or visualizations to communicate AI insights to business teams
- Support experimentation, A/B testing, and performance measurement of AI initiatives
- Research emerging AI technologies, tools, and industry best practices
- Help document model performance, processes, and governance standards
Requirements:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience with programming languages such as Python or R

Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) is a plus

Experience with SQL and working with large datasets preferred

Understanding of statistics, data modeling, or predictive analytics

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrated interest in AI innovation and emerging technologies

The expected hourly rate for this position is $19.00. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law.
