Job description
Rivian is embarking on an adventurous journey to transform its End-to-End Supply Chain Planning processes and systems. We are actively looking for an entrepreneurial Senior Product Manager to join our Enterprise Software team on this adventurous journey, charged with owning the strategy for Rivian's critical Enterprise platforms and skilled at developing software products. This role requires a strong product-led mindset to translate complex business challenges into seamless, user-centric technology solutions that streamline the critical and complex value streams in Supply Chain, including Advanced Planning and Production Planning & Scheduling. You will operate end-to-end to drive innovation, fostering robust collaboration between various teams within Rivian while ensuring our systems evolve to meet the needs of a fast-paced, adventurous company.
We are building a next-generation Advanced Planning System (APS) purpose-built for Rivian's complex, high-velocity supply chain. This is a greenfield opportunity to define the product vision, roadmap, and end-to-end feature set for a platform that will be built from the ground up with modern AI / ML capabilities. As a Product Manager, you will be the connective tissue between supply chain domain expertise, engineering innovation, and enterprise customer needs. You will own the full product lifecycle—from discovery through delivery—while working in an AI-accelerated development environment. This role will be located in either Palo Alto, CA or Irvine, CA and report to our Sr. Manager, Supply Chain Systems.
Product Strategy & Roadmap:
- Define and own the end-to-end product roadmap for an APS covering Demand Planning, Supply & Inventory Optimization, Capacity Planning, and S&OP / Integrated Business Planning, integrated into Production Planning & Detailed Scheduling
- Conduct competitive analysis against commercial off-the-shelf software like o9, Kinaxis, Blue Yonder, and SAP IBP to identify differentiated positioning for an AI-native APS.
- Translate Automotive OEM supply chain pain points (BOM explosions, multi-tier supplier visibility, EV production volatility) into actionable product requirements.
Strategic AI Integration:
- Drive the adoption of an "AI-first" framework across the Supply Chain Planning domain. Pinpoint and implement high-value applications using Generative AI and machine learning (ML) to automate intake processes, optimize planning and scheduling.
Execution & Delivery:
- Manage the full product lifecycle from initial ideation through post-launch refinement, maintaining strict alignment with project schedules.
- Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release ceremonies in an AI-accelerated engineering environment using Claude Code, Cursor, and similar tools.
- Author clear, structured PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria that AI coding assistants can consume effectively.
- Define KPIs and success metrics for each feature area; instrument dashboards and report on OKRs to leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement:

Engage directly with supply chain planners, logistics teams, and IT architects to gather requirements and validate prototypes.

Communicate roadmap priorities and product decisions to executives and engineering teams.

Build alignment to achieve cohesive integration throughout the planning and scheduling landscape.

Engage directly with planning teams and stakeholders to resolve operational ambiguity. Convert intricate cross-platform challenges—such as data transfers between APS, PLM, ERP and first-party apps into precise product specifications.

Support business and implementation teams by serving as a product subject matter expert during testing and rollout phases

Create data-driven frameworks to evaluate planning cycle efficiency, data governance and system adoption. Leverage these metrics to guide roadmap prioritization and inform executive decision-making.

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Information Systems or related areas with an equivalent practical experience within Supply Chain Planning and Supply Chain Management, or closely related industrial sectors.

5+ years of experience in product management or program management, with a proven track record of owning and driving roadmap strategy and definition

Demonstrable understanding of Advanced Planning concepts: demand forecasting, MRP/MPS, inventory optimization, capacity planning, and S&OP.

Demonstrated experience with end-to-end product delivery, including feature delivery and managing trade-offs in a complex enterprise systems landscape.

Proficiency in working with data to extract meaningful insights and influence senior

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to drive consensus across diverse enterprise teams and senior leadership.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Supply Chain and Advanced Planning domain in Automotive or Manufacturing space.
- Direct experience building or managing Products from ground up.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with experience in SQL and Python for data analysis.
- Experience building with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini) and familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG architectures, or fine-tuning workflows.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development environments such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar.
