Our Pen-AI™ Material Intelligence platform transforms images of physical materials and surfaces into quantitative and actionable information for applications in batteries, advanced materials, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, and other industries.

We are seeking a highly capable AI Application & Software (or Hardware) Engineer to develop practical applications based on Pen-AI™ and help expand the platform toward Edge AI, FPGA acceleration, Physical AI, and intelligent manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop software applications utilizing the Pen-AI™ Material Intelligence platform.
• Convert existing AI and image analysis algorithms into practical, user friendly applications.
• Develop web, desktop, and edge applications for image processing, quantitative analysis, visualization, and reporting.
• Integrate computer vision, image processing, AI models, and numerical algorithms into Pen-AI™ applications.
• Develop rapid prototypes and transform successful prototypes into deployable software.
• Optimize AI and image processing algorithms for high speed and real time applications.
• Support integration of Pen-AI™ with Digital Twin, smart manufacturing, and autonomous manufacturing systems.
• Work closely with scientists and engineers to translate physical and material concepts into software functionality.
• Contribute to technical proposals, white papers, system architectures, Statements of Work, and technical reports for U.S. Government R&D programs.

FPGA, FINN, and Edge AI

Candidates with strong FPGA experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Experience with several of the following is highly desirable:

• FPGA development
• AMD/Xilinx platforms
• FINN
• Vivado or Vitis
• High Level Synthesis
• RTL concepts
• Quantized Neural Networks
• Hardware accelerated AI inference
• Edge AI
• Real time image processing
• Low latency computing
• AI model optimization and quantization

We are particularly interested in engineers who can help translate Pen-AI™ algorithms from conventional software environments toward high speed, hardware accelerated edge computing architectures.

PINN and Physical AI

Experience with Physics Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) is also welcomed.

Candidates with experience combining machine learning with physical models, governing equations, experimental data, Digital Twin systems, or manufacturing process models are strongly encouraged to apply.

Soelect participates in U.S. Government R&D programs involving organizations such as DoD, DOE, DARPA, Air Force, Army, and Navy.

The candidate should be comfortable contributing to Federal Project Proposals, including:

• Technical proposal writing
• Technical approach development
• System architecture development
• Statements of Work
• Technical milestones and deliverables
• White papers
• Technical reports and presentations

Prior experience with SBIR, STTR, DoD, DOE, DARPA, or other federal R&D proposals is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong software development and programming capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to build functional applications.
• Experience with AI, computer vision, image processing, FPGA, scientific computing, or related technologies.
• Strong analytical and technical problem solving capabilities.
• Ability to understand existing algorithms and translate them into practical applications.
• Ability to work independently in a fast moving R&D environment.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

A college or university degree is not required.

Professional experience, startup experience, independent development, open source contributions, certifications, or a strong technical portfolio may demonstrate qualification for this position.

We are looking for a hands on engineer who enjoys turning new technical concepts into working systems. Strong FPGA experience is particularly valuable, and experience with PINN, Physical AI, computer vision, or Digital Twin technologies is welcomed.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work directly with the Pen-AI™ development team and help connect AI software, physical materials, edge computing, and intelligent manufacturing.
