Rent Guarantor is a growing property tech platform that helps tenants secure rental properties by acting as a guarantor. As we scale our services and expand into cloud-based infrastructure and AI-driven capabilities, we are investing in a robust, secure, and scalable technology foundation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Server Administrator / DevOps Engineer to own and evolve our infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining our current Joomla-based platform, leading our migration to cloud hosting, and building a scalable environment to support future AI and data initiatives.

This role is hands-on and strategic, working closely with product, engineering, and upcoming data science teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize current hosting environment for the Joomla-based web application
  • Plan and execute migration from paid hosting to a cloud platform (e.g. AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Design and manage scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to support faster and safer deployments
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, and security, and respond to incidents
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Support the setup and scaling of environments for AI/ML workloads (e.g. data pipelines, model deployment infrastructure)
  • Collaborate with developers to improve deployment processes and system reliability
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and security standards (e.g. GDPR)
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or Server Administration role
  • Strong experience with Linux-based systems and web server management (e.g. Apache, Nginx)
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes is a plus)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. GitHub)
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and system monitoring
  • Experience with scripting (e.g. Bash, Python)
  • Knowledge of database management (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)

Desirable Experience

  • Experience managing hosting for CMS platforms such as Joomla (or similar PHP-based systems)
  • Experience supporting data science or machine learning teams
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools
  • Experience with data pipelines and large-scale data processing
  • Exposure to serverless architectures and microservices
  • Knowledge of observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)

Pay: £60,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
