Job Description
GDIT is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to design, build, and deploy advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions that drive mission impact. In this role, you will work with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to deliver scalable, production‑ready models that solve complex business and operational challenges.
What You’ll Do
- Develop machine learning models for predictive analytics, NLP, computer vision, and recommendation systems.
- Collect, clean, and prepare structured and unstructured data for modeling.
- Train, validate, and optimize models using modern ML frameworks and evaluation techniques.
- Engineer features and extract insights from raw data to improve model accuracy.
- Deploy models to production environments and integrate them with existing systems.
- Monitor model performance and implement automated alerts for drift or degradation.
- Document designs, model decisions, and best practices.
- Collaborate across teams to translate business needs into AI‑driven solutions.
- May coach junior team members or lead tasks.
- Work independently with general supervision.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5+ years of experience.
Required Skills
Analytical & Programming
- Strong Python skills (Pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn).
- SQL proficiency and knowledge of key statistical methods.
Data Modeling
- Experience across the full ML lifecycle, from feature engineering to monitoring.
- ETL/ELT and data wrangling experience with large or messy datasets.
- Strong model evaluation and error‑analysis skills.
AI Integration & MLOps
- Experience integrating AI models via APIs and building microservices.
- Production deployment experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Model monitoring for performance and drift.
Cloud & Tools
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with Docker, Git, and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
Communication & Governance
- Ability to identify AI opportunities and translate findings for stakeholders.
- Documentation skills and awareness of responsible AI principles.
- Basic understanding of data security in production systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, and RAG pipelines.
- MLOps tools such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, Kubernetes, Argo, or KServe.
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
- Knowledge of model risk management, explainability tools, or regulated environments.
- Additional languages/tools: R, PySpark, Scala, LangChain.
Clearance Requirement
- Must be eligible to obtain a federal security clearance.

The likely salary range for this position is $128,039 - $173,229. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
