Machine Learning Engineer Intern – Computer Vision

Depending on performance and business needs, the intern can be considered for a full-time Jr. ML Engineer position after several months.

About the Role

AcSYS Engineering is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer Intern to support computer vision, robotics, and industrial automation projects.

You will work alongside ML, software, robotics, and controls engineers on real-world applications involving industrial cameras, robots, sensors, GPUs, and manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, clean, label, and validate image datasets.
  • Help Jr. and lead ML engineers train and evaluate computer vision models for classification, detection, segmentation, and anomaly detection.
  • Build Python tools for training, testing, and inference.
  • Analyze model performance and failure cases.
  • Assist with integrating ML models with cameras, robots, PLCs, APIs, and edge devices.
  • Test models on NVIDIA GPUs and Jetson devices.
  • Use Git, Docker, Linux, and common ML development tools.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, AI, ML, Robotics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic Python programming experience.
  • Familiarity with PyTorch, OpenCV, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or similar tools.
  • Interest in computer vision, robotics, and industrial automation.
  • Ability to work on-site in Gilbert, Arizona.

Preferred

  • Personal, academic, or research projects involving computer vision or machine learning.
  • Experience with PyTorch, OpenCV, YOLO, RF-DETR, or similar models.
  • Familiarity with Git, Linux, Docker, SQL, ROS/ROS 2, NVIDIA Jetson, ONNX, or TensorRT.
  • GitHub profile or technical portfolio demonstrating relevant projects.

What You’ll Learn

  • Building real-world computer vision datasets.
  • Training and evaluating production-oriented ML models.
  • Deploying models on GPUs and edge devices.
  • Integrating AI with cameras, robots, sensors, and industrial equipment.
  • Testing ML systems under real manufacturing conditions.

Previous professional ML experience is not required.

Work Location: In person

Pay: $17.00 per hour
